'Shaman's Pilgrimage'
Taking Pippa Skotnes' digitized archives of the /Xam as initial inspiration,

Shaman's Pilgrimage will be a 'poetic journey' through landscape, ritual and the search for meaning. Presented as a series of narrative poems, it will travel through the etymology of place names, folk stories and beliefs, and collaboration with an iPhone for soundscapes!

'The Practical Application of Fire'

'A practical Application of Fire' is a hands-on performance workshop for

groups. It lifts the opening speech from Shakespeare's Henry V ("O for a muse

of fire') and places it in a gritty, performance-driven context, from page to

stage. The process embraces archaisms, and a side reference to Original

Pronunciation, recognising the internal rhythms in Iambic that were created

intentionally for performance. Some 'inside trading' secrets come alive when

you're on your feet as an actor with a script, as opposed to the reader at a

desk!

Ashley was a teacher (English and Drama) for four years before starting out in Durban as an actor - with The Playhouse theatre (NAPAC) as an ad hoc Loft Company member. He moved to Johannesburg in the late nineties and into TV as a continuity presenter on SABC, as well as shows such as LifeStyle Matters, Going Nowhere Slowly and the Home Channel design show. He currently works as an actor on stage, in TV and Film, and as a commercial voice artist.
