Dreamer in Wander Land
Dreamer in Wander Land is an emotive hodge-podge of poetry, song in acapella and narration written and performed by the poet. It follows a theme about a dreamer-figure in search of love and purpose in a conflicted world. The presentation lasts 30 minutes.
Lerato Sibanda is a performance poet, journalist and overall pundit for self-empowerment. She believes every individual has the power to passionately pursue their purpose and it's these same values that inform her cathartic and enriching music and poetry. Upon graduating with an Honours in Cultural and Media Studies in 2010 from the University of Pretoria, Lerato was approached to join, as a contributor, the Afrocentric lifestyle publication,www.consciousness.co.za. In 2012 she was selected among 15 young people all across the country for a learnership with Sekunjalo Independent as a cadet journalist.
Lerato has reported for The Star, The Star Africa and Pretoria News. She has also had op-eds published in The Star, Pretoria News and City Press. Currently, Lerato is enrolled for a Masters in Media Theory and Practice at the University of Cape Town and runs a blog where she writes intimately about beauty and purpose: beautybeginswithbe@blogspot.com
